Glen passed away on March 11, 2018 at 12 noon in the Regina General Hospital, Intensive Care Unit.
Predeceased by his son Ashley Sean Oakes (Centre Pole), grandfather Abel Oakes (Mistikomin), grandmother Matchanow; Mother Josephine Oakes (Otter Woman); Aunts Iona Oakes (Good Feather), Mary Oakes (Eagle Feather); Tom Coffee called Glen ("my boy"); Uncles Johnny Oakes (Sitting Together), Gordon Oakes (Red Bear). Cousins; Louis and Oscar and brothers; Rainey and Jr. Wayne.
Survived by wife Elaine, children Jordi (Lacey), Tyson Marshal (Melinda), Sonja (Rene), adopted sons Nathan Bellegarde and Errol Kayseas, adopted daughter Lisa. Grandchildren he loved so much, Judas, Jayvin, Drayson, Paisley and Isabelle. Sister Linda, brothers Clarence (Ann), Jonas (Gloria), numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and grandchildren. Very close friends Roger Parsonage, Allan Ternes, Terry Major, Jess Parsonage, Chuck Parsonage and so many others.
Glen served his community in many capacities, a leader for one term and many people sought his help, which he never refused. He will leave an empty void that no one can ever fill; he touched so many lives in many walks of life.
A ceremonial service will take place on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Binkley’s Funeral Chapel in Maple Creek. Followed by a wake Wednesday night at his residence, Nekaneet First Nation. Burial will be near his home, a special place he loved to spend his time; he called this place "my home".
