Ida Mabel (Countryman) Peters

On September 4, 2023 Ida Mabel (Countryman) Peters, loving mother of 7 children, 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild passed away at the age of 98 with her children by her side. She was born on April 9, 1925 and married Herb Peters on December 14, 1942. 

Mom worked at various jobs, including waitressing, housekeeping. She loved catering with Nora Palniuk, Marg Yarshenko and Emma Martin.  Mom said, “These were the fun times.” She made many good friends and had so much fun. Many special memories were made. 

These are Mom’s words: “One of the greatest inspirations in my life were watching my children grow up and their happy times they had together. Then there was the grandchildren and great grandchildren which was always a happy occasion when we got together.” 

We as a family always enjoyed Mom’s homemade baking, the bread, buns, pies, cinnamon buns, spudnuts, huge garden, canning and her delicious home cooked meals. She had the ability to put on a meal at a moment’s notice. Dad & Mom welcomed everyone to the farm and their home in town. 

Ida was predeceased by her husband, Herb, her son-in-law Ken Forbes and her grandson Chase Peters-Gehring. 

She is survived by her family, Norma Forbes, Wade (Marlene), Lance (Mandy), Blake, Brielle, Eric. Darryl (Lori), Layne, Hannah, Tyson, Colin (Stacey); Lorraine Bertram (Gary), Renne (Darren), Victoria (Arv), Michelle (Shawn), Ashley, Allison; Naydene (Terry), Craig (Jen), Brody, Jordyn, Kaitlyn; Scott Peters (Betty), Dusty (Aleasha), Brandon, Reagon, Desirae, Brody, Ty (Amanda), Sophie, Shay (Irelynd), London; Kerrie Chabot (Curtis), Brittni, Chantelle (Mario), Kassie (Josh), Mack; Kristine Mason (Darvin), Kyle(Jenna), Grady, Kohen, Briar, Kirk (Brooklyn), Clara; Grant, Julia

Funeral service will be held at Maple Creek United Church on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 2 pm. Tea to follow at the church.
