Jean was born on April 10, 1933 in Wakefield, England to Mollie and Clifford Colledge. She had two siblings; Michael and Elizabeth.
Jean passed away peacefully on June 25, 2021 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan.
Jean went in to the nursing profession and graduated Nursing School in 1954. She came to Canada in 1958 aboard the "Empress of Britain" and found work as a Registered nurse in Hamilton, Saskatoon, Eastend and Swift Current.
She married Wilfred Cornelsen of Beechy, Saskatchewan on July 2, 1960. They resided at Arena Community Pasture at Robsart, Waldeck, Maple Creek and most recently at the Cypress Lodge where they celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2020.
Jean and Wilfred had four children; Angela (Jim) Moore, Stephen (Janice) Cornelsen, Katherine (Bronc) Rumford, and Dean(deceased) (Shannon) Cornelsen. The pride and joy of Jean’s life was her Grandchildren; Jesse, Tyrell, Samantha, Bobby Jo, Justine, Austin, Tessa, Jake, and Morgan. They are scattered across four provinces and one state. Jean learned to navigate an iPhone and Facebook to keep tabs on their growth, aspirations, relationships and achievements.
Jean’s life and passions were centered around giving. The nursing profession, the community service in 4-H, the church, the care homes; her commitment to family, and her willingness to help anyone in need. Jean spent every spare moment knitting; she was thinking of a family member, friend, neighbor, or stranger that needed something. Whether it was a sweater, an afghan, baby clothes, a prayer shawl, or even just a wash cloth.
A private service will be held at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Maple Creek on July 2, 2021 with livestreaming available. In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to the Anglican Church Women or the Cypress Lodge Recreation Fund. The family would like to thank the Staff and management of Cypress Lodge for their compassion in caring for their parents.
