Violet Leipert (Siewert) passed away at the age of 92. She was the eleventh child born to Rudolf and Bertha Siewert on October 19, 1929 on her parent’s farm at Mendham, Saskatchewan. She received most of her education at a country school called Hollymount and later attended Mendham High School. She was faithful going to church every Sunday, with her parents and other members of her family, to Mendham Evangelical Zion Church. At the age of 16 in 1946, while attending a revival meeting in Leader, she gave her heart and life to the Lord.
On September 29th, 1948 she married Lawrence Leipert of Leader Saskatchewan. After a few years of moving to various places, they moved to Lawrence’s family farm in 1956. She loved gardening, growing flowers and keeping the farm yard neat. She enjoyed crocheting, playing organ, loved taking pictures and doing up numerous photo albums.
In 2011, they retired to Leader; she continued with gardening and kept up a big yard. She enjoyed going to have coffee about 4 times a week with her lady friends. She continued to be active in the Leader Alliance Church and it was a significant part of her life.
She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence, her parents Rudolph and Berta Siewert, her son Lyle, her son-in-law Jon Leitch, her sisters Helena in infancy, Hilda, Tillie, Frieda, Elsie, and Kay and her brothers Fred, Henry, Jake, and Alvin.
