Rhoda Bertram

Rhoda, age 87, passed away peacefully in Maple Creek, Sask., on Nov. 23, 2017.

She was born in Maple Creek, the third child to Samuel and Charlotte Constance Hobbs.  She attended Carnagh School and following her Grade 12 graduation she went to work at the Imperial Bank in Piapot.  Following her marriage to Ward Bertram in 1953, she remained at home to raise her three sons (Charlie, Wade and Murray) and work on the family ranch raising purebred Hereford cattle. She also worked at the Piapot General Store for five years.  In 2012 she moved to Piapot, Sask. and then to the long term care facility in Maple Creek where she remained until her passing.

During her life Rhoda enjoyed curling, baking, gardening and preserving, playing cards, sewing, knitting, doing upholstery work, travelling, working on the ranch and especially spending time with her family and many friends. She was an active member of the community and she was always willing to help out with any function.  She served as the secretary-treasurer for the Piapot Royal Canadian Legion, Piapot Curling Club, the Piapot Roping Club and the Maple Creek Beef Breeders for many years. She was also a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Saskatchewan Hereford Association.

Rhoda was preceded in death by her husband Ward, her sisters Jean and Phyllis and her brother Ken. Left to honour and remember her love are Rhoda's children, Charlie (Marlene), Wade (Laurie), and Murray (Joanne), and her grandchildren Brady (J.J.), Caitlin (Trevor), Casey, Kylie (Dean), Cody, Clint, Carley, and Landon and her great grandchildren Mia, Ava, Jaysik, Rio, and Sawyer, as well as many close friends and relatives.
