Aline Anna Marie (Peltier) Schafer

After a very brief illness, Aline passed away peacefully December 28th, 2021, in Maple Creek, SK.

Aline was born in Gravelbourg, SK to Eugene and Germaine Peltier on June 18th, 1939.  She is survived by her two brothers Louis and Richard, as well as by her three sisters Pauline, Olive, and Bernice.  She married Art Schafer on September 6th, 1958, in Moose Jaw, SK.  Together they raised four children.

Aline started working at the telephone office in Coderre while a lady was on holiday and then moved to the Moose Jaw telephone office for four days before finding herself in Maple Creek at the young age of sixteen.  She held this job for many years before telephone operators became a thing of the past. Over the years she found herself undertaking various jobs from working at the SAAN department store, cooking at the hospital, or baking at the CO-OP Bakery.  She also worked alongside her husband at his business, North Side Equipment, as a bookkeeper when needed.

She was a wonderful cook and loved to share her baking with many in the community. Her yard was her pride and joy; especially her fern peonies! She also loved cards and had numerous card parties over the years playing SMEAR and Canasta. She taught each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to play Up the River Jack and Go Fish! almost before they could walk. And, of course, she loved playing the game of Crib with family right up until her passing; even having a very short game with her great-grandson.

Aline is survived by her four children:

Son: Steve with his children: daughter Crystal (Blair) Koizumi with their children Evan and Raiden; son Steven;

Daughter: LeeAnn (Blair Brost) with their children: son Jamie (Gerlie) with their children Deanna and Natalie; daughter Jessica (Shawn Christie) with their children Milo and Sadie;

Son: Randy (Jackie) with their children: son Deyton (Nisha) with their children Avi and Yash; daughter Kelley; son Kevan;

Son: Darren (Leah) with their daughters: Kylin and Kaydin;

Aline was preceded in death by her husband Art, her parents Eugene and Germaine, her brother Oliver, her sister Lillian, and her sister Diane who had passed during childhood.

There will be a service, and a celebration of life tea following, for family.
