Annie Gerbandt (Penner) Nickel

Annie Gerbrandt (Penner) Nickel was born June 6, 1940 on the home quarter Sec3, Twp20, Rge8, W3 to John and Margaret Penner.  Annie married the love of her life Henry Nickel on Dec 27, 1959 in Herbert, SK.  While living in Herbert they had 6 children.  Then they moved to Piapot, SK and had 2 more children.  Later they moved to Gull Lake, SK.  Annie then made one final move to Maple Creek, SK.

Annie enjoyed spending time with her family, going camping, playing Bingo, and doing puzzles, crokinole, cards and various crafts.  She also enjoyed raising the farm animals including cows, pigs, chicken, turkeys, ducks, and geese.

Annie is survived by 7 children, Howard (Bonnie) Nickel, Ken (Shari) Nickel, Debra (Walter) Arnold, Lester Nickel, Colleen (Randy) Arnold, Darwin (Lorraine) Nickel and Ivan (Debbie) Nickel along with 18 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by two sisters, a brother, five sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

Annie was predeceased by her parents John and Margaret Penner, husband Henry Nickel, daughter Daphne Nickel, grandson Shawn Huber, and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Annie’s sense of humour and feistiness will be greatly missed.

The memorial service for Mrs. Annie Nickel of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 1:30 pm, at the Maple Creek United Church (301 Maple St) with Sheila Deforest officiating.
