Annis was born in Maple Creek, SK on August 15, 1926 and passed away in the Maple Creek hospital on September 27, 2021 at the age of 95.
Annis was the youngest of eight children born to Tekla and Wasil Resnechenko, who farmed southwest of Maple Creek in the Arabana district.
This is where Annis received her education, and following that, she went to Garbutt’s Business School in Medicine Hat.
Upon returning to Maple Creek, Annis worked at the B.A. Oil Company, and then as a typist for a lawyer. She then moved to Regina, where she was a Medical Secretary at the Grey Nuns Hospital.
In June of 1949, Annis married Gordon McElree. He passed away in December of 1969. Annis continued her work at the hospital until 1973, when she returned to Maple Creek and married Velmont Hoffman.
Annis and Velmont ranched north of Maple Creek until Vel’s death in 1984. Annis remained on the place until 1995, surrounded by her very good neighbours.
When Annis moved into Maple Creek, she enjoyed bowling, she loved to dance, and enjoyed visits and card games with her many friends. She also enjoyed traveling with her friends and sisters, and Annis always made the adventures fun.
When Annis became more settled in town, we decided she should have a cat for company, so Karli brought her Casper. Everyone in the condo building got to know Casper and they had many good years together.
Annis moved to the Cypress Lodge Assisted Living Facility in 2019, where she lived until her passing.
Annis is survived by Casper, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families. She will be dearly missed.
