Arthur (Art) John Jans passed away on Monday, July 24,2023 following a year-long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Debbie; children Jason(Heather) Jans of Maple Creek, SK, Crystal Jans of Medicine Hat, AB, and Katherine Jans(Jamie Lombard) of Swift Current, SK; his grandchildren: Tyson Tenborg, Jocelynn and Jaxson Jans, Cory and Anthony Nikoleychuk; and his sister Irene (Doug) McIntyre and their children: Dawn(Steve) Iwaasa, Lee(Heather) McIntyre and Kara(Shane) Dyer; brother in-law Rob(Margaret) Purdy, sister in-law Sherri(Mel) Morrison, brother in-law Don Purdy, sister in-law Cheryl Purdy and cousin Jamie(Cindy) Graham and all of his great-nieces and great-nephews.
Art was predeceased by his parents Albert and Hazel Jans, granddaughter Paige Tenborg, brother-in law Ray Purdy, and great nephew Charles McIntyre.
Art was born on May 12,1951, at the Maple Creek Union Hospital, and resided in Walsh, AB, until 1956 when he moved with his family to Maple Creek, SK. Art completed his education in Maple Creek prior to starting his trucking career which eventually took him to Moosomin, Saskatchewan where he met Debbie and they were married on Sept 1,1979. Art and Debbie moved back to the family farm in Maple Creek, in 1985, where he resided until his passing. Art began his trucking career early in life and ran Art Jans Trucking Ltd. until he retired in 2009. He continued trucking for several years until he began working for the Hammer Family farms in 2015 and continued working with them until late 2022 when he fell ill. Art loved chatting at the local coffee shop and never turned down a game of cribbage or some light-hearted board games.
