We, the daughter and sons of Bernard (Bernie) Isabelle, would like to let you know that Bernie decided on Oct 11, 2023, to leave this place and set off to join our mother who he has greatly missed these past 9 years. He did it quietly and without any goodbyes, just as he has always done when leaving one place to go to another. He leaves us with fond memories and great admiration for his gentleness and never-ending sense of humour.
Bernard Lucien Isabelle, was born July 16, 1935, in Maple Creek, the 3rd child of Emile and Stella Isabelle. He kept his farm raised roots throughout his life and often thought about returning to that one day. It is what drew him and our mother back to Maple Creek after 23 years of travel with the Air Force. Here, he ran his own electrical business and he indulged his passion for carpentry. He loved hockey and coaching and in later years, became an avid Blue Jays fan. Together, he and our mother crafted a beautiful home and garden that kept them grounded and close to their respect and love of the land. They raised 3 children, Linda (Warren), David (Diane) and Steven. They were actively involved in their grandchildren’s lives. Twelve great grandchildren complete their story. We wish to give enormous thanks to the staff of Cypress Lodge for going above and beyond in their care of Dad, it was greatly appreciated. As well, much thanks to Home Care for their assistance and compassion. Thanks also, to the staff of Maple Creek Hospital.
A public viewing for Bernard will be held in the funeral chapel of Binkleys Funeral Service on Tuesday October 17th, 2023 at 1:00 Pm. A Funeral service will be held at St Mary’s Anglican Church in Maple Creek, SK on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023, at 2:00PM with Reverend Jessie Miller Officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
