Beverley Mestdagh Obituary

On Friday, February 3, 2023, Beverley Ann Fox (nee Mestdagh), loving mother to 4 questionably worthy sons, passed away peacefully at the young age of nearly 74.

Beverley, known as “Bev“  to most throughout the land (or at least the odd tavern between Medicine Hat and Maple Creek) was born February 22, 1949 in Maple Creek SK. and was the first of 4 children born to lovingly strict parents Gilbert (Gib) and Peggy (Peg) Mestdagh. Life as it were for the Mestdagh’s would never quite be the same.

Bev, in her formative years was known to be quite the little spitfire developing a big sassy personality early in life and never letting go of that take no guff attitude through to the end. She may have been only 5’2” in stature and 100 lbs soaking wet but you didn’t want to be on the wrong side of that big sometimes frumpy personality. At some point in her teen years (we’re not quite sure when or even why) Bev decided she wanted to be a hair stylist (or perhaps it was a barber, the official record is a little fuzzy) so she packed up her things and moved to Calgary for a stint for some further education harassing her Aunt Beth and Uncle Cal in the process. At some point in her further education journey and we’re not sure when, she met her baby daddy, abandon all personal endeavors, got married and ultimately produced 4 sons (one of which is remarkably handsome I might add). Those 4 sons, as misguided as they be, saw to it to bring Bev her biggest joy, her grandchildren. All 11 of them including 2 of whom she loved but had yet to meet. She is so proud of each and everyone of her grandchildren and all of their individual accomplishments. Later in life and for reasons only the universe understands Bev was given an opportunity to reconnect with a high school sweetheart Ron (Ronnie) Johnson of Consul SK which brought her what could be defined as some of the most happiest moments of her life. She loved Ron dearly but sadly was only given a few years with Ron before his passing in 2007. Unimaginably, Bev, in and amongst raising 4 degenerate sons found time to work too (crazy right..) although not in the hair management industry she took great pride working at fine retail establishments such as Robinson’s, Saan, Rafters and finally Giant Tiger. She was a very loyal and dedicated (sometimes bitchy) employee who somehow managed to ride it out till either the store closed it’s doors or she was forced to retire due to illness. She took great pride in her work, doing so until she was into her 70’s.

Bev was predeceased by her parents Gilbert and Peggy as well as brother in-law Glen Bowles. She is survived by loving sisters Marlee Bowles and Odette Galbraith, loving brother Dave Mestdagh and his wife Donna, sons - Greg Brown (wife Tammara), Wes Brown, Graham Brown (S/O Missie) and baby Tyson Brown (wife Chantelle). Grandchildren - Nolan, Justyn, Shae-Lynn, Sydney, Breanne, Cassidy, Paige, Owen, Jesse, Spencer and of course baby Willow.  Nieces Lacey (Jim), Krista (Kent) and nephew Mark (Christa) and their families as well as an awesome Aunt Beth and numerous cousins and their families. ALL of whom loved Bev very much.

We love you mom, you will be missed each and every day!
