Cecil Weisgerber Obituary

Cecil Henry Weisgerber was born on October 12, 1954 in the Maple Creek Hospital the second of five children born to Henry and Kay Weisgerber.

Cecil was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, friend, and neighbor.

Over the years he was a mentor to several young men in the area. Helping them with horsemanship and roping skills. Encouraging them to be better and continue learning.

He was community minded. Often helping where needed including at the Consul skating and curling rink with repairs, and pounding nails for the United Church basement.

He sat on several boards, including Irrigation, Community Pastures, RM of Reno, Consul Livestock Sales Co-op, and numerous Roping Clubs.

Cecil is survived by his wife of 48 years Barbi-Rose (Demchenko) and their daughter Gwenivere. His four siblings David (Nancy) Bruce (Debbie) Roger and sister Denise. His sister -in- law Fay Hagerty, Brother-in-law Mark Demchenko (Marsha). Three nieces, Christine, Ingrid and Maun, four nephews Willie, Jamie Wade and Michael, two great nephews Jaxson and Grady and a very special neighbor Everett Guenther and Jordan and their two daughters Maddie and Callah.

Cecil left school and went to work on the PFRA starting on the Fence Crew. He rode the Govenlock, Reno and short time at the Suffield Pastures.

He could be full of mischief. He enjoyed a good laugh, and saw the humour in most things after the fact. He along with many friends packed a lot of living into the first fifty years of his life. He used to say he wished he had had more fun. After his first heart attack when he was 45 years, he had to slow down considerably but still continued to ranch. He left the wide-open spaces of Senate behind and moved to the Cypress Hills where he very much disliked the trees, as time went by, they started to grow on him. He became quite proficient at pruning them with a front-end loader.

He could get irritated quickly but got over it just the same. Rarely he held a grudge.

He was quite capable of fixing problems or issues. It being animals, machinery or whatever else needing repair he would try his best and usually figured something out.

He built and designed a very efficient set of working corrals at Senate then built a beautiful set of cupboards in the house. He was a good welder, and mechanic though not as good as his brother David.

He was generous and kind. He loved to visit. With an old friend or a stranger, it didn’t matter. He particularly enjoyed the family meals. Close neighbors meant family as well.

He started each day with a fresh outlook on life and looked forward to what the day would bring work or play.
