Cheryl began her eternal slumber at home, on July 29, at the age of 60. Having survived 15 years past the expiry date given to her over her long battle with heart disease, she was a true fighter. Cheryl’s greatest passion was her family, especially her grandchildren. It didn’t matter how rough a day she was having, if her grandkids came for a visit, she got up so that every moment could be cherished. She was an extreme advocate of “quality of life over quantity of life” and lived in more pain than needed so that she could be aware enough to live life as fully as possible.
Cheryl is survived by her soulmate of 37 years, Stephen; her children: Damon and Kristin; grandchildren: Stephen, Violet and Sebastian; stepfather: Floyd, siblings: Darrell, Don, Gordon, Brian, and Pat; stepsiblings: Don and Laurel as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Vi and Phillip as well as her brother Stewart.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to all the staff at the Maple Creek Hospital and Emergency Services for the genuine and compassionate care that Cheryl was provided with over the years. A celebration of life will be planned for the end of August.
Cheryl’s physical journey may be over, but her family knows she is using that indomitable fighting spirit to continue looking after her loved ones on the spiritual plane.
