Connie Helen (Leadbetter) Girardeau

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Connie Girardeau (nee Leadbetter). Connie passed away at the SIHF: LTC – Prairie Meadows on Tuesday, December 8th, 2020 at the age of 95 with family at her side.

Connie is survived by her daughter Sandra (Frank) Chatain; her son Victor Smith; her son Bob Desrochers; her son Bill Desrochers; her son George (Annie) Desrochers; her daughter MistyAnn (Peter) Dowkes; and her son Bernie (Laurie) Girardeau Jr.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.   

Connie was predeceased by her husband Bernie; her daughter Paulette; and granddaughter Tara.

Connie was born June 17, 1925 in Otley, Yorkshire, England to Emily and Robert Leadbetter.  As a family they moved to Caragana, SK in 1927 at the age of 2 1/2 years old. Connie’s family moved to Piapot where she grew up.  She lived in Winnipeg, MB for many years until moving to Maple Creek, SK in 1976 with her family making it her home until her passing. 

Connie was laid to rest on December 12, 2020 at the Maple Creek cemetery alongside her husband Bernie. The service was officiated by Father Hector Saville. Pallbearers were her sons; George and Bernie; grandson Ryan; son-in-law Peter; Clay Wagner; and Glenn Newby.

Connie will be greatly missed by all her family and numerous friends, who she also considered to be like family. The family would like to extend a big thank you to all the staff at the SIHF: LTC – Prairie Meadows for taking such amazing and compassionate care of mom through this difficult time. Everything you all did was and is greatly appreciated.
