Diane Jeanne (Cadrin) Drapeau

It is with great sadness that the family of Diane Jeanne (nee Cadrin) Drapeau, age 87, of Maple Creek, SK announce her passing on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

Diane was born in La Sarre, QC on July 14, 1937.  She was the eldest of ten children.  After school Diane worked for Abitibi Forest Products, as a cook aid (cookie), where she met Jude the love of her life.  They wed in La Sarre, QC on April 14, 1956.  Jude’s career within the logging industry took them to Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.  Diane’s creativity was evident in her artistic talents, her paintings, decorating and fashion style. Mom’s experience and interests were varied, she sewed her clothing as well as ours, cooked and hosted hundreds of traditional French Canadian meals and gatherings, picked pine cones and planted trees within the sustainability programs of BC Forest Products, worked for the Hudson’s Bay tagging new inventory, worked with her dear friend at Adrienne’s Fashions as seamstress and fashion advisor, but her passion for the cowboy lifestyle was realized when Jude and Diane moved to their daughter’s ranch in the Cypress Hills.  When Jude passed away, Diane made the decision to remain on the ranch, her community of friends grew making the Hills her little patch of heaven. 

Diane is predeceased by her beautiful baby girl Judy-Ann, her parents Eliane & Alphonse, her siblings Eliane, Donald & Judith.  She is survived by her siblings Anita, Marthe, Alphonse, Gerald, Carmen and Normand, many loving nieces, nephews, God children Chantal & Linda, as well as her extended late husband’s family of sister-in-law Rose, nieces and nephews.

She will be truly missed by her children Christine (Rick), Theresa (Scott), Denise (Gary), Carmen (Barry) and Luke (Debbie), her grandchildren Mark, Michael (Amanda), Jason, Joan, Leanne (Travis), Alexandra (Zach), Mikayla & Jakob, Shaun & Brad and great grandchildren Brooklyn, Rayna, Avery, Coh, Felix and Jayne.

The family is so grateful for endearing new friends she made at the Cypress Lodge and the incredible care Diane received from the staff at the Southwest Integrated Healthcare Facility in Maple Creek.  For this, we will forever be grateful.

A memorial service will be held at the Diamond C Cowboy Church in Maple Creek, SK May 10th , 2025 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow in the attached Hall.  Her ashes will be interned at Woodlawn Cemetery in Hinton, AB with Judy-Ann and Jude.

C'est avec une grande tristesse que la famille de Diane Jeanne (née Cadrin) Drapeau, 87 ans, de Maple Creek, SK, annonce son décès le mardi 11 février 2025.

Diane est née à La Sarre, QC le 14 juillet 1937. Elle était l'aînéede dix enfants. Après l'école, Diane a travaillé pour ProduitsForestiers Abitibi, comme aide-cuisinière (cookie), où elle a rencontré Jude, l'amour de sa vie. Ils se sont mariés à La Sarre, Québec, le 14 avril 1956. La carrière de Jude dans l'industrieforestière les a menés en Ontario, en Alberta et en Colombie-Britannique. La créativité de Diane était évidente dans sestalents artistiques, ses peintures, sa décoration et son style vestimentaire. L'expérience et les intérêts de Diane étaientvariés, elle cousait ses vêtements ainsi que les nôtres, cuisinait et organisait des centaines de repas et de rassemblementstraditionnels franco-canadiens, cueillait des cocotte et plantaitdes arbres pour BC Forest Products, travaillait pour la Baie d'Hudson à l'étiquetage de nouveaux stocks, travaillait avec sachère amie chez Adrienne's Fashions en tant que couturière et conseillère en mode, mais sa passion pour le style de vie des cow-boys est concrétisée lorsque Jude et Diane ont déménagé au ranch de leur fille dans les Cypress Hills. Lorsque Jude estdécédé, Diane a pris la décision de rester au ranch, sacommunauté d'amis s'est agrandie faisant de Cypress Hills son petit coin de paradis.

Diane est précédée dans la mort par son mari Jude, sa belle petite-fille Judy-Ann, ses parents Eliane et Alphonse, ses frères et sœurs Éliane, Donald et Judith. Elle laisse dans le deuil sesfrères et sœurs Anita, Marthe, Alphonse, Gérald, Carmen et Normand, de nombreux neveux et nièces, ses filleules Chantal et Linda, ainsi que la famille élargie de son défunt mari, sa belle-sœur Rose, ses nièces et neveux.

Elle manquera beaucoup à ses enfants Christine (Rick), Theresa (Scott), Denise (Gary), Carmen (Barry) et Luke (Debbie), sespetits-enfants Mark, Michael (Amanda), Jason, Joan, Leanne (Travis), Alexandra (Zach), Mikayla et Jakob, Shaun et Brad et ses arrière-petits-enfants Brooklyn, Rayna, Avery, Coh, Felix et Jayne.

La famille est très reconnaissante pour ses nouveaux amisattachants qu'elle s'est faits au Cypress Lodge et pour les soinsincroyables qu'elle a reçus de la part du personnel du Southwest Integrated Healthcare Facility à Maple Creek. Pour cela, nous lui en serons éternellement reconnaissants.

Un service commémoratif aura lieu à l'église Diamond C Cowboy à Maple Creek, SK, le 10 mai 2025 à 11 h, suivi d'uneréception dans la salle attenante. Ses cendres seront enterrées au cimetière Woodlawn à Hinton, AB avec Judy-Ann et Jude.

Au lieu de fleurs, des dons commémoratifs peuvent être faits à un organisme de bienfaisance de votre choix.
