Edna was born on the family farm at Robsart on January 22, 1925. Her mother passed when she was 4, and her father, who was not healthy, was forced to split Edna and her sisters, Ina, Olga, and Martha to different homes. Edna lived with the loving family of Claus and Betty Wenaas in 1930. She gained three more siblings, Gloria, Palmer, and Ken.

She received her schooling in Robsart and attended Normal School in Moose Jaw. Edna taught at Whitemud, Luce and Vidora schools.

Edna met her husband Bill at a social in Vidora and were married October 17, 1947. They lived in Vidora where Shirley Ann was born in 1948, then moved to the family farm 1 mile south of Vidora. Carol was born 1951, Darlene in 1953, and Bill in 1957. In 1983 they retired to maple Creek. She played an active role in the community, belonging to many clubs, including 4-H sewing, and helped out any time she was asked. Sewing fine clothes and quilts, knitting, crocheting, gardening, reading, and dancing were her favourite pastimes. Her greatest contribution was to her family. Edna was a loving, gentle person, that touched the hearts of everyone she met.

She was predeceased by her husband Bill on April 8, 2012, as well as her biological parents, Olena and Olaf Teigen, her adoptive parents, Claus and Betty Wenaas, her brothers Gordon and Palmer, sisters Emma, Olga, Ina, Martha, and Gloria, and her son-in-law, Richard Wilcox.
