Burgess Elizabeth Marie (Betty)
July 3, 1936 – Jan 14, 2024
Betty age 87 Passed away at the Cypress Regional hospital in Swift Current after a short illness.
Betty was born on the farm at Leroy Saskatchewan the third of six children to Herman and Ruth Schoettler.
She attended school at Korbel and high school in Watson after her grade 12 graduation moved to the Piapot area to teach school in Petain while boarding with a local family.
She met a near by rancher, John Burgess and they were married in January 1956. With a love of cattle and farm life she became an active participant in running the family operation.
She had two sons, Stan and Joe and continued her working life being heavily involved in the day to day operations.
She enjoyed farm life till she moved to town.
Betty bought a house and moved to Maple Creek in 2001 where she lived right up to her passing.
Once there she did many road trips with friends to various places, Nashville, some major league baseball games, and several Canadian Finals Rodeos.
There were more than one or two road trips made to surrounding casinos which she had a true love for. Bingos were always a fun place to spend some time as well.
Betty was an avid sports fan spending many hours watching hockey, baseball, and football games that did tend to anger her at times.
She enjoyed time with the grand children and later great grand children and always stayed closely connected with them.
Betty always tried to attend their many 4H, school and curling events.
She enjoyed her daily coffee outings with the many friends she made.
Betty was predeceased by Husband John, bothers Barney, Ernie (Grace), Clem, sisters Eileen (Jerome), and Rose (Ivan).
Left to remember her are Her two children Stan (Susan), Joe (Evelyn). Grand Children, Rob (Becky), Brad (Katherine), Kristine (Kyle), Nicole (Jeff), JJ (Rori), Great Grandchildren, Daxsten, Elliot, Caleb, Jordon, Owen, Raylynn, Victoria, numerous nieces & Nephews, sister in laws Romona, Jeanette, and her many friends.
