Mom worked hard at giving us a good home. There were chickens butchered, sausage made and many, many pots of noodles. She taught us how to make knephla and her homemade bread. I can close my eyes and smell the bread.
Mom was a very talented woman. She played banjo, drums and" recently taught herself to play harmonica. She made numerous amounts of banners for the Church.
Later on, she developed a passion for artwork. Sunset paintings were what she loved to paint, along with a variety of other choices. A display of pictures of her paintings will be at the luncheon.
Another one of mom's crafty talents was her thistle Christmas tree. The first one she made was for Liebenthal Church. In order to get the tree to the church, dad had to sit on the back of the truck and hold the tree while mom drove. It was December and very cold.
One of mom's favorites was an Iced Capp from Tim Horton's. Her last 3 days with us were some of her favorite things. Shopping in Swift Current-she bought herself a winter sweater, lunch at the Akropol and of course, her tasty Ice Capp. She would hold onto it with her achy arthritic fingers and say "Come to .a Mama".
The next day she got a haircut and foot care.
Then lunch on the patio and her last golf cart ride.
Mom was young at heart. We all had many personal conversations with mom. She would stress to us have faith in God and believed in so many prayers. She would pray for all of us everyday. She told us to keep praying no matter what because a prayer is never lost. What mom taught us will be passed down to our children and grandchildren and will be cherished forever.
We had a beautiful life with mom and were blessed to have her for 96 years. She prayed to be able to stay in her home until she passed and she did! Everyone here today has personally touched mom's heart and made her life's journey complete.
Thank you, God, for the blessing of our beautiful mom.
Mom- we miss you today. We will miss you tomorrow. Tears in our eyes and hearts full of sorrow. We will hold on to the memories of the great times we had. We will grieve for what we lost. But grateful for what we had.
