Faye Rabe – Faye Eunice Rabe passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Maple Creek Hospital.
She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Josephine Topinka, sisters Geraldine Wendel and Phyllis Abday, nephews Randy Malowany and Dennis Abday, and nieces Nikki Gott and Maureen Malowany. She leaves to mourn her husband and best friend of almost 57 years, Marvin; son Regan Rabe (Kim) of Consul; daughter Renee (Wayne) of Weyburn; grandchildren Justin Rabe, Travis Rabe (Megan), Brandon Rabe (Jordan), Kianna Cuthbert, Dylan Rabe, and Cash Cuthbert; great grandchildren Emmet and Rylan; sisters Louise Malowany of Craven and Ada Gott of Regina; sister-in-law Delores (Ron) Tittle of Consul; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Whitewood, SK on July 30, 1945, Faye was the second youngest of five girls. Her young life was spent on the farm at Whitewood and then Esterhazy. She completed high school and then Teachers’ College at Regina and took a teaching position in Robsart in the fall of 1964. It was there that she met the love of her life, Marvin, and they were married on July 31, 1965. Faye focused on her role as a farm wife with vigor becoming an excellent cook, gardener, and seamstress and assisted with care of the animals and the land. She took on the role of mother, grandmother, and great grandmother with determination and pride always sharing about what they were up to when gathered with friends and speaking her mind with any of them that she disagreed with. She had a talent for cake decorating which evolved from creating children’s cakes for sale at the local 4H bake sale which often went for a premium price, to decorating wedding cakes for family members, friends, and community members. These cakes were masterpieces but there was rarely a charge for them – just a gift and an opportunity for her to add some joy to their special occasion. Faye was also a collector of noise-making and animated Christmas ornaments. She delighted in seeing the grandchildren and other visiting kids touch all of the buttons, even if they all played at the same time. The children were truly the apple of her eye. This extended to the students she worked with as an Educational Assistant at Consul School for 15 years, many of whom she continued to connect with in their adult lives.
