Florence Delorme, aged 89, of Maple Creek, SK was called to Heaven by God on July 27th, 2023 after a brief illness. Florence was born on August 28, 1933 on the farm near Scout Lake, SK. to Leo and Alice Cote.
Being born during the depression, she grew up learning not to waste anything and to work hard. She attended Scout Lake School from grades 1 through 10 and finished her education at Our Lady of Sion Academy in Moose Jaw, SK. After gaining a secretarial diploma in Assiniboia she was employed with Family Life Assurance in St. Victor, followed by book-keeping at Scout Lake Coop and Robert’s Garage in Rockglen.
On October 8th, 1953 Florence married Jean Delorme of St. Victor. They worked the family farm until 1955 when they went to work on a feedlot near Scout Lake. In 1967 they moved to Consul to manage a ranch. Upon deciding to slow down, they bought an acreage two miles south of Maple Creek where they ran a small herd of Angus cattle until their full retirement; selling the acreage and moving into Maple Creek.
Florence was a very integral part of their life; cooking for large crews, helping to hay, fence, feeding and working cattle, housekeeping – never missing a beat while they raised their family. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, playing cards, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and visiting with family and friends. If anyone needed help, Florence was always there. She was famous to all her family and friend’s children for her delicious cookies, which she seemed never to run out of!
Her Faith in God was very important to her. She was a member of the C.W.L. for over fifty years and a volunteer on the Hospital Ladies Auxiliary every chance she got.
She was pre-deceased by her Parents, Leo and Alice Cote, Sisters; Louise and Jeanne, Brothers; Robert, Gilbert and Henry, Son-In-Law Richard Chapman and Grand Sons; Scott and Logan. She is survived by her loving husband, Jean (Johnny), Sister Vivian and Brother Jimmy. Her Children: Michael (Dee), Allan (Shannon), Donald (Connie), Louanne (Ray) and Lynne (Allen), eight Grand Children, and fourteen Great Grand Children.
All who knew this amazing woman will cherish their memories made with her.
We will all miss her deeply.
