BOWLES—Glen passed away at his home on November 4, 2020.
He was born in Maple Creek on October 27, 1929. Glen lived his early years with his family at Murraydale.
Glen wanted to be a rancher from early on and moved to the Cypress Hills ranch homestead in the early 1940s.
He loved horses and the challenge of making a green horse into a ranch horse. The animal husbandry of his cow herd was a passion of Glen’s.
In the 1970s, Glen started having rodeos on the rodeo grounds he and his sons built. Having his own rodeo stock was an accomplishment that gave him great joy. Glen had jackpot rodeos where many young cowboys got their start.
He hosted the Hootinanny in the Hills music festival at his rodeo grounds. This was a successful event that Glen enjoyed for ten years.
Glen was a very good source of Cypress Hills history. He appeared in numerous documentary productions over the years.
Glen is survived by his wife Marlee, and his daughters Elie (Peter), and Lorri (Glen), as well as granddaughter Tanya (Josh) and great-grandson Finn.
He is predeceased by his sons John and Larry.
Glen loved his family and friends. He loved life and lived it to the max!
His wit and stories will be dearly missed.
