Jean Elizabeth (Attridge) Murray

Jean Murray of Tompkins, SK passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021.  She was predeceased by her parents, Charles & Grace Attridge, her brothers, Bob and Peter Attridge and her daughter-in-law, Cynthia 

Lam- Murray. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Morley, her son Jason (Tammy) Murray, granddaughter Jewelya, grandson Connor, her son Ronald, granddaughters Kamea and Kalena.

Jean attended school in Gull Lake, SK and met her future husband in Grade 10.  When she finished high school she enrolled in a hairdressing course in Medicine Hat, AB.  She married Morley Murray April 7, 1972 and they moved to their farm on SE 13-12-21 W3rd.  Their eldest son, Jason appeared in March of 1974 and their youngest son, Ronald in January of 1979.

Jean was one of the first two ladies elected to sit on a RM Council in Saskatchewan and was quite proud of a speech she made at the SARM Annual Convention.  She sat on RM109 for 6 years.  Jean sat on many different boards over the years and was very happy to do so.  She enjoyed sports, both as a participant and as a spectator.  Jean spent many hours watching her family at curling, ball, hockey, tennis, volleyball, basketball, football and dance.  She enjoyed it so much she became a coach and manager and even the first certified woman umpire.  Jean loved playing cards and games with her family and friends and even played competitive bridge where she finished second in Saskatchewan 2 years in a row.  Jean had a love of travel and made many trips to foreign lands like Hawaii, Britain, Malta, Israel, Italy, Spain, Canary Islands and Egypt, as well as wintering in Arizona for many years.  Jean was a farm girl who loved seeing the wind in the crops and watching the farm grow while contributing her work and bookkeeping abilities.

Jean will be missed by all who knew her, and those who called her Mama Jean.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 2:00 at the Tompkins Community Centre.  At Jean’s request, casual attire please. Masks are mandatory for all in attendance.
