John Mott was born on June 6, 1954, in Gainsborough, Saskatchewan, to George and Violet Mott, the youngest of four siblings. He later moved to Duncan, British Columbia, where he grew up and made many fond memories that he carried with him throughout his life and often spoke of.
In his early years, John worked in the oil patch and at a sawmill. He was also a talented athlete, setting his sights on rugby. He earned a spot on Team Alberta and went on to make Team Canada, but a shoulder injury in the final minutes of the game sadly brought his rugby career to an early end.
John then began a long career with CP Rail, which eventually led him to Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, where he met the love of his life, Rhoda. Together they built a life rooted in love and family, later moving to Golden, British Columbia, where they raised their children. In 2014, they returned to Maple Creek to enjoy retirement.
John found joy in the simple things—golfing, watching football, and spending time in his garden. But more than anything John loved his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Violet, his brother Byron, and his beloved wife Rhoda. We take comfort in knowing they are together again.
John is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Gail and Louanne and their families; his children, Brandi (Curtis), Kaela (Chance), and Byron; and his cherished grandchildren, Danika, Lincoln, Oaklyn, Oliver, and Wren.
