She was predeceased by her parents, brother John and his wife Florence (Bell), brother-in-law Bill Knodel, her sister Julia and husband George Friedt, and sister-in-law Pearl (Hardy) and in April of 2023, her soul mate Leonard of 72 years.

Their son Darcy was born in 1958 and they settled in Maple Creek in 1959.  Daughter Sherry arrived to the household in 1961.

Len took over Dietrich Construction and Jo helped out by raising the kids and sewing for a variety of people in the area.  Later she took night courses for book work to help lens company, she also did the interior design and the painting of all the houses he built. Later she opened her own business as Lens Floral and Sporting goods and also did photography.  Next was Cypress Custom Drapery and Knitting, while at the same time spending time with her grandchildren, who meant the world to them, and still had time for baking and her main love, her gorgeous flowered yard.  In 1992 she retired and went and watched dad fish in Ferguson Bay.
