Lewis Bevan Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lewis Bevan on Friday, May 29, 2026. A loyal brother, devoted uncle and friend to many, his loss will be felt by all who were touched by his kindness.

Born in Windsor, Ontario, a job opportunity brought Lew to Saskatchewan, which became his forever home. He was a man of many interests and would often be seen with a camera in his hand to capture special moments and stunning scenery. He appreciated nature, artifacts, culture, ancestry, and always liked to learn. His thoughtfulness and generosity were exemplified through gifts, which would be individually considered and include a background story with unique facts. A valued teacher at Maple Creek Composite High School, he was passionate about his work as well as the success and well-being of his students. He recognized the potential of youth and enjoyed expanding their knowledge through engaging science programs, photography, outdoor education, and year-book club. In addition to his commitment to the school, he often took part in community socials, volunteered to help local businesses and events, and participated in both curling and hockey leagues. He was a dedicated member of the Jasper Cultural and Historical Centre, Salvation Army, and was so proud of the efforts dedicated toward building the community arena. Though Maple Creek was his home, he valued family and returned to Ontario each year for barbeques and holiday gatherings.

Lew is predeceased by his brother Joe (Liz) and will be remembered by his siblings Brian and Carol (Rick), nieces Carrie (Mark), Caren (Tim), Allison (Alan), Monique (Aaron), and Brittany (Tasos), as well as his great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of Lewis Bevan will be held at Maple Creek Composite High School on Sunday, June 28, 2026 from 2:00-4:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Jasper Cultural and Historical Centre are appreciated.
