Peter Webb Obituary

Peter Alan Webb passed away at the age of 92 on July 6, 2024 in Leader, Saskatchewan. He was at home among members of his loving family.

Peter was born in London, England on May 21, 1932. The second of seven children, he grew up in North London, England. As a child in the Second World War, he was evacuated from the city for a period before returning home with his mother to continue his education. He served honorably in the Royal Signals of the British Military during the postwar period and would later become an expert welder and fabricator, developing and supervising the welding specifications for Britain's first nuclear submarine.

At a London dancing school, Peter Webb met the love of his life, June Shirley Aldridge of King's Cross, London. They loved to dance, entering competitions and winning prizes. Peter and June married in 1954, sealing a lifelong bond of 69 years. The young couple moved from England to Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada in 1966 with their three young daughters, Alison, Erica, and Wendy. In Canada two sons, Peter Thomas and Andrew, were born to the family.

Peter had been recruited by Canadian Ingersoll Rand in Sherbrooke, Quebec to supervise industrial fabrication in a large manufacturing facility. In 1984, he moved with his family to Stratford, Ontario, where he became a welding instructor and quality control supervisor at the companies Cooper-Bessemer and Cleaver Brooks. Peter's innovative talents extended into other interests, as well. In his early years in Canada, he designed and hand-constructed his own 16 ft sailboat. He developed an interest in photography, building his own darkroom. He was an avid bicyclist, once cycling from Sherbrooke, Quebec to Kingston, Ontario to visit his daughter, a distance of 440 kilometres. Peter's other creative and outdoor hobbies included painting, woodworking, camping and gardening.

Upon his retirement in 1997, Peter Webb moved with his wife June to Leader, Saskatchewan where they lived for the rest of his days. The couple travelled extensively, visiting England, Europe, and Australia, and camping with their Boler trailer across Canada. The Webb home was a vibrant location for many friends and family members to visit during summers and holidays.

Peter Alan Webb was predeceased by his three sisters Olga, Doreen, and Anne and his brother Stuart. He is survived by his brothers Michael (Pam) and Douglas (Tessa), his beloved wife June, his five children Alison Webb, Erica MacIntyre (John), Wendy Webb (Gary Arnold), Peter Thomas Webb, and Andrew Webb (Sharon). He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
