Richard was born August 3, 1950 in Eatonia, SK to Kenneth Dahl and Yvette (nee Giroux) Dahl, of Mantario, SK. He died February 4, 2026 in Leader, SK, after spending 8 years in long-term care, having suffered colon cancer, and later dementia.
Richard is survived by his wife of 18 years, Rose Dahl, 2 children and 2 step-children: his daughter, Ashley Dahl, son-in-law Jay Codd, their daughters, Jaydin and Maddyn Codd, of Coaldale, AB; his son, Gordie Dahl, daughter-in-law Valarie Dahl, their children Bobby, Jordin and Devin Dahl, of Mantario, SK; his step-daughter, Anna Rose Aja Bating, step son-in-law, Jonathan Aja Bating, their son Andrew Pajartin Aja Bating; of Eatonia, SK; and his step-son, Marlou Bunda Pajartin, step daughter-in-law, Jenalin Pajartin, their daughter Ashley Pajartin, of Eatonia, SK. Richard is also survived by his step-father, Jim Golightly, one aunt, Donna Dahl, former wife, Beverly Dahl, and many cousins and their families.
Richard is predeceased by his parents, Kenneth Dahl and Yvette Golightly, his brother, Gordon Dahl, grandparents Iver and Ella Dahl, Emile & Therese Giroux.
Richard attended school in Mantario and Eatonia, also Saskatoon, where he enrolled in Farm Machinery Mechanics at the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Arts & Sciences. He farmed at Mantario from 1970 to 2017, living on the family farm; he also lived briefly in Marengo, and most recently, in Leader.
In his early years, Richard enjoyed sports, including hockey, baseball and softball, playing with Eatonia, Alsask, and lastly, with the Sask-Alta Twiliters. Richard also enjoyed seeing his children participate in these sports.
Richard enjoyed travel to the Virgin Islands, Mazatlan, Mexico, northern/central USA and the Philippines.
Richard will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. The last few years were difficult for Richard and the family, but knowing he is now reunited with his birth family, half of whom had their lives shortened by illness or accident, provides a sense of peace. May God bless them all.
