Shirley Jean (Eremenko) Jans passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at the age of 75 years. Shirley was born on February 1, 1946 in Lethbridge, Alberta and was raised on the family farm southwest of Maple Creek. On November 22, 1962 Shirley married George Jans and they raised their family on their farm, just across the road from where she grew up. After George passed away Shirley remained on the farm for a few years before she moved into Maple Creek where she was very comfortable in her house on Maple Street. Shirley is lovingly remembered by her sons Glen and Tracy (Laura). Shirley also leaves to cherish her memory grandchildren Ali (Lindsey) Harrigan, Erin (Chris) Shorrock, Riley Jans and Nolan Jans (Jordyn Bock); great-grandchildren Jayda and Reid Harrigan and Connor and Spencer Shorrock; brother Dwight (Joan) Eremenko; nieces Donna (Sheldon) Frank and Becky Newby; sisters-in-law Jean Jans and Shirley Jans, as well as a large extended family. Shirley was predeceased by her husband George, parents Nick and Bonnie Eremenko, brothers-in-law Franklin Jans and Lloyd Jans, and sisters-in-law Rita Lutz and Doris Weiss, as well as daughter Sherryanne Smith. The family would like to thank the staff at the Southwest Integrated Healthcare Facility for the excellent care Shirley received. A private family funeral service will take place at Binkley’s Funeral Chapel on Monday, November 15 at 2:00 pm followed by interment in the Maple Creek Cemetery. Donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Southwest Integrated Healthcare Facility or the Salvation Army.
