Shylah Faith Schmidt

Shylah Faith Schmidt was born on September 25, 1981, and passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025. Though born with serious disabilities, her positivity and determination helped her to rise above them and be a blessing to those around her. Shylah’s faith and devotion were a highlight of her life. She loved singing hymns and memorizing Bible verses, frequently lining up her dolls to hold her own Sabbath School.

As a child, she could happily entertain herself but also enjoyed being with others, often turning everyday moments into joyful memories. One fond memory is of Shylah racing pedal cars with her brother Shimron around the kitchen table while shrieking in delight.

As an oldest child, Shylah was highly intuitive and seemed to always know or figure out what everyone was up to. She did not mind giving words of correction to her younger siblings. In spite of her physical limitations, she was happy and social. She had an excellent memory and enjoyed telling stories. Shylah was naturally helpful and organized, taking initiative with the household duties, often putting things away before a mess was even made. She enjoyed being outdoors in the gardens and orchards. She especially loved her pets.

The funeral service will be held at Binkley’s Community Chapel in Maple Creek, SK, on Monday December 29, at 1:00 p.m. In memory of Shylah, a time for socializing and a slideshow will be present from 12pm and 1pm. Followed by lunch at the Salvation Army Hall, and the burial at Rosenfeld Cemetery near Golden Prairie. The funeral service will be livestreamed for those who would like to join us online.
