Early in Wade’s life the family moved from the Hay Creek area south of Maple Creek to the Bench south of Piapot. They lived ten years on the Bench with lots of green grass in the summer and snow in the winter. In 1971 the family moved to the Colquhoun place north of Maple Creek. Wade attended Piapot School, Sidney Street School and Maple Creek Composite High School. His next step was the Automotive Apprenticeshipprogram at Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon with supervising mechanics at Maple Creek Motors. He worked at Maple Creek Motors many years, attaining the position of Service Manager. In the mid-nineties he changed careers and was hired on at Fletcher Challenge as a production operator in the gas field. The company changed names many times, but the job didn’t.
Wade and June and family lived on an acreage east of Maple Creek until they purchased the Mike Kreutzer ranch north of Piapot. Wade could now have a cow herd and expand his herd of horses. He enjoyed working with his animals, calving the cows out, riding his horses, helping neighbors’ brand and weanand participating in sports, especially the sport of rodeo. As well as riding rough stock in the Border Country Circuit he opened many chute gates at Murraydale and Maple Creek rodeos and helped young riders get started. He was always ready to lend a hand. The Relay Race at Murraydale was a highlight in his summer as well as all the spectators that loved to watch.
Wade was a family man, a rancher, a mechanic, and a good friend to many.
