Wallace Good Obituary

Wallace Alvise Good, age 94, passed away peacefully on Aug. 23, 2022.  Wallace was born on a ranch in the Graburn area to a happy, close-knit family of nine.  Growing up, Wallace grew to love family, animals and ranching.  In October of 1952, he married the teacher at Graburn School, Lorraine Shultz.  In 1956, Wallace and Lorraine welcomed New Year’s twins, Darrell and Delvin.  The family remained on the homestead where Wallace had grown up until 1959, when they moved to the ranch near Hatton, Saskatchewan.  Wallace was a hard-working rancher through and through.  Wallace and Lorraine even travelled to France to purchase an exotic calf for the ranch.  During many years of ranching with Wallace, Darrell and Delvin also grew to love the ranching way of life.  In 1981 Wallace semi-retired to Maple Creek, but he still travelled to the ranch most days to continue ranching with his boys and their families. Although he was ready to help with any task, looking after and raising cattle was his passion.  During retirement, Wallace enjoyed travelling with Lorraine.  They went on many bus tours in the United States, including a Grand Canyon tour and a tour covering 10 states.  They also travelled to Reno, Las Vegas, Laughlin and Hawaii with friends.  In 2006, they sold their house in Maple Creek and moved into the Creekside Senior Residence.  Wallace really enjoyed the company of the neighbours including his sister Florence.  The neighbours became new friends to play cards, socialize and do puzzles with. Whether it was at “Good Christmas” in the Walsh Hall, the Jasper Hotel or with friends, he was always ready for a game of cards. As long-time member of the Lions Club and Elks Fraternity, Wallace enjoyed volunteering.  After many years of mixing fish batter faithfully, he became known as the “Batter Man”.  Wallace was a caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.  He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lorraine, his son, Darrell (Leanne), their children, Lisa (Chris) and Bryce (Megan) and Delvin’s children, Shane (Alyssa) and Amy (Dave).  Great-Grandchildren: Mackenzie, Cole, Logan, William, Lachlan, Hanna and Jakob.  Wallace was pre-deceased by his son, Delvin, brother, Earl, Sisters: Florence Kusler and Marjorie Heller, in-Laws: Jack Heller, Art Kusler, Frank Quenzer, Vernon Shultz, Marlene Benn and Gordon Benn.  A family graveside service was held on August 27, followed by a memorial tea at the Elks Hall.  Pallbearers were Shane Good, Bryce Good, Tyson Kusler, Chris Segboer, Justin Kusler and Dave Edmonstone.  Friends who wish, may remember Wallace with a donation to the Southwest Integrated Healthcare Facility.
